Plunkett's Pest Control
FRIDLEY, Minn. — Plunkett’s Pest Control announced the support of the Pest Management Foundation’s new Legacy Fund as a founding donor, which the company said continues its commitment to investing in the future of the pest management industry.
The company’s $5,000 contribution supports the launch of the fund, which was established earlier this year through a landmark $1 million commitment from the Gary W. Rollins Foundation. The fund is designed to create a lasting source of support for applied pest control research, helping ensure the industry has the science, tools and knowledge needed to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
The Gary W. Rollins Foundation’s commitment includes $500,000 in upfront funding and an additional $500,000 in dollar-for-dollar matching funds available to the pest management community. Plunkett’s said because of this match, the company’s contribution will have twice the impact, helping move the fund closer to its $2 million fundraising goal.
Once fully funded, the fund will provide $100,000 each year exclusively for applied pest control research. Plunkett’s said this type of practical, industry-focused research plays an important role in strengthening pest management practices, improving services outcomes, protecting public health and property and supporting the continued professionalism of the industry.
“At Plunkett’s, we believe the future of pest management depends on continued investment in research, education and innovation,” said Aly Silva Mulgrew, president of Plunkett’s Pest Control. “Our industry has always evolved through science and shared knowledge, and the legacy fund is an important opportunity to support the kind of applied research that will benefit pest management professionals, customers and communities for generations to come.”
For more than a century, Plunkett’s said it has been committed to advancing the pest management profession through science-based service, ongoing training and support for industry leadership and education. Supporting the fund reflects that same commitment and reinforces the company’s belief that a stronger future for pest management starts with investment today.
All contributions to the fund are eligible for the dollar-to-dollar match from the Gary W. Rollins Foundation, up to $500,000. The Pest Management Foundation caps overhead on all grant funding at no more than 5%, ensuring that the overwhelming majority of every dollar contributed goes directly to research.
