In Memoriam: Bobby John Sr.

LAFAYETTE, La. - Bobby John Sr., founder of J&J Exterminating and a pioneering figure in Louisiana’s pest management industry, died on June 12, at his home surrounded by family. He was 89.

John co-founded J&J Exterminating in 1959 with his brother, Harry John, in Crowley, La. Starting with a single truck, basic equipment and a telephone housed in his mother’s outdoor “breeze house,” he helped build what would become one of the region’s largest independent pest management providers.

Under Robert John’s leadership, J&J experienced significant growth and diversification.

John's vision, determination, and commitment to excellence transformed J&J into a respected and thriving company serving a broad range of customers and industries. As shared on the company’s LinkedIn page, John is remembered by colleagues and employees as a hands-on leader who viewed the pest management profession as more than a business. His leadership philosophy centered on building lasting relationships with customers and creating opportunities for generations of employees and their families.

At its annual team meeting this past spring, J&J Exterminating celebrated its 65th year in the pest control industry.
