U.S. Structural Pest Control Market Crosses $13 Billion Mark

The United States structural pest control industry generated total service revenue of $13.416 billion, a $762 million increase from the $12.654 billion measured in 2024, according to the 26th edition of A Strategic Analysis of the U.S. Structural Pest Control Industry from Specialty Consultants. “The growth in the professional pest control industry was more than 2.7 times the 2025 U.S. Real GDP,” said Rich Kalik, partner.

There were 16,565 pest control firms operating in the U.S. this past year, 81.4% of which operated from one or two locations. In total, an estimated 109,384 service technicians were employed by the industry in 2025. Nationwide, two-thirds (66.8%) of the respondents expected their residential service revenue to increase in 2026. “It should be noted that the survey was completed before the war in Iran was initiated and gas prices increased by a $1 per gallon,” said Kalik.

“Respondents said finding or keeping good employees was the greatest challenge to their business and 36.8% indicated that their company’s growth was limited by their ability to have a sufficient number of service technicians on staff,” said Kalik.

Nearly 13.29 million residential customers received a professional pest control service this past year. Recurring revenue accounted for 85.4% of the residential pest control service revenue generated, up slightly from the 85.2% measured in 2024. The commercial segment continued to expand with a nearly 7% increase in service revenue generated this past year.

Pest control operators were asked to select the top three pests most responsible for their callbacks. Among all responses, more than half (51.6%) named ants, followed by cockroaches (42.6%). “More than two-fifths of respondents named ants and bed bugs as the pests needing a better solution to control,” said Kalik.

The 2025 season market report is the 26th edition of A Strategic Analysis of the U.S. Structural Pest Control Industry. A total of 800 owners or managers of pest control companies were surveyed for this study. More than half of the respondents to this year’s survey were members of the NPMA and nearly 62% were members of their state or local association.
