Liberty Pest Control Celebrates 30 Years
Liberty Pest Control of Brooklyn, N.Y., is celebrating its 30th anniversary, marking three decades of growth since its founding in 1996 by Richard “Rich” Cappa. What began as a one-man operation run out of Cappa’s vehicle has evolved into a company now performing more than 15,000 services each month across commercial, institutional and hospitality sectors.
Reflecting on the milestone, Cappa said the company was built on a simple philosophy: take care of customers and do honest work. While he did not anticipate the scale Liberty would eventually reach, he emphasized that belief in people and company culture has remained constant.

That culture has been central to Liberty’s expansion, alongside key leadership contributions and partnerships. Cappa’s collaboration with partner Joe Temperino marked an important phase in the company’s development. Temperino said Liberty focuses on accountability, disciplined growth and a commitment to preserving the values established early on.
The company also points to its employees as the foundation of its achievements. From technicians in the field to office staff and administrative teams, Liberty credits its workforce for delivering consistent service and maintaining strong client relationships.

In recent years, Liberty Pest Control has focused on innovation, particularly through the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into its operations. Technology and operations leader Alex Dallas has overseen the adoption of AI-driven tools designed to improve efficiency, streamline workflows and support technicians in real time. The company emphasizes that these tools are intended to enhance employee performance rather than replace it.
Beyond business growth, Liberty has prioritized community involvement, including supporting local initiatives, mentoring individuals and creating career opportunities. Cappa noted that providing stability and second chances has been one of the most meaningful aspects of the company’s journey.

Moxie Continues Support for Suicide Prevention
Earlier this year, Moxie Pest Control announced it will award $100,000 annually for the next two years to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) — a $200,000 total commitment — to support suicide prevention awareness, education and community engagement nationwide.
AFSP is a leading organization dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide through research, education, advocacy and support for individuals and families impacted by suicide. This partnership reflects Moxie Pest Control’s continued commitment to raising suicide prevention awareness and encouraging open, compassionate conversations around mental health.

The two-year partnership builds on a five-year relationship between Moxie Pest Control and AFSP, including employee participation in local Out of the Darkness Walks, where Moxie team members have gathered with families, friends and community members to honor lives lost, share stories and walk together in solidarity. Since 2022, Moxie Pest Control has raised over $250,000 for AFSP’s mission.
“The work of AFSP is personally meaningful to me,” said Jason Walton, founder of Moxie Pest Control. “Five years ago, my daughter Jessica died by suicide and left a hole in our hearts and in our lives. I’m thankful for all the work that AFSP does to raise awareness, strengthen community and support resources essential to suicide prevention. Together, we are committed to reducing stigma and expanding our understanding and compassion.”
Over the next two years, Moxie will collaborate with AFSP on awareness initiatives, storytelling, and community participation efforts designed to help ensure individuals and families know they are not alone and that support is available.

Peachtree Pest Control Marks 50 Years with Community Initiative
Peachtree Pest Control, an Anticimex company based in Suwanee, Ga., is celebrating 50 years in business with “50 for 50,” a year-long initiative dedicated to giving back through 50 acts of community service, one for each year of support from its customers and neighbors.
The first initiative kicked off in March when Peachtree Pest Control partnered with Bikes for Goodness Sakes to build 10 bicycles that were donated to Nicholas House, an Atlanta organization dedicated to supporting families experiencing homelessness.
Peachtree President Bryan Cummings said this 50-year milestone would not have been possible “without the support of our customers and community. ‘50 for 50’ is our way of saying thank you, by giving back and making a tangible difference in the lives of those around us.”

Rollins Acquires American Pest (Ill.)
Rollins expanded throughout Central Illinois with acquisition of American Pest Control, based in Hanna City, Ill. The deal closed in summer 2025 and terms were not disclosed.
American Pest Control was most recently owned and operated the third generation of the Haggerty family, including Chuck’s children, Andrea Mooberry and Chris Haggerty, and Jim’s children, Lynette Hillman and Rod Haggerty.
“We are thrilled to partner with their family to continue their legacy in Illinois,” Matthew Whiting, vice president, corporate development, Rollins, told PCT.

Whiting said post-acquisition, Doug Hillman, husband of Lynette Hillman, has remained with the business as its primary leader. American Pest Control was founded in 1951 by Ira Haggerty and his wife Lael. The family-run business initially involved the couple and their two sons, Jim and Chuck, who later took over leadership of the company.
American Pest Control shared on its website that it sold to Rollins because “the brands that Rollins acquires keep their name, keep their family feel and keep providing the top-notch service their customers have come to expect from them. So, teaming up with Rollins seemed to be the right thing for American Pest Control to do. The partnership has been seamless so far and has only enhanced the services and offerings. We’re all excited for the future of American Pest Control, which looks very bright.” — Brad Harbison
