Taylor Farms Recalls Products Made with Jalapeños Amid Salmonella Outbreak

Salinas, Calif. — Taylor Fresh Foods is recalling a range of products containing fresh jalapeño peppers supplied by Coast Citrus Distributors amid an ongoing multistate Salmonella Javiana outbreak linked to the peppers that has sickened 345 and hospitalized 36.

The recall follows Coast Citrus Distributors’ recall of fresh jalapeños grown in Sinaloa, Mexico, after federal investigators identified a grower that supplies the distributor as the potential source of the outbreak.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has also issued a public health alert for various ready-to-eat meat and poultry products containing the recalled jalapeños.

The alert was issued after FDA notified FSIS that multiple federally inspected establishments had received the recalled FDA-regulated ingredient. The affected products include items produced by Taylor Farms and Greencore and sold under several retail brands. The full list of products is available here.

FSIS said it expects additional downstream products to be identified as the ingredient recall progresses. There have been no confirmed reports of illness associated with consumption of the FSIS-regulated products.

Taylor Fresh Foods said it is no longer sourcing products from Coast Citrus Distributors and will be filling orders from alternative suppliers. A list of recalled products distributed by Taylor Farms and corresponding images are provided here.

Recalled products were distributed to retail distribution centers in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Wisconsin and West Virginia, with a “Best If Used By” date up to and including Aug. 16, 2026.

To date, Taylor Fresh Foods said it is not aware of any reported illnesses linked to its products containing jalapeños.

Consumers who have recalled product should discard it immediately and not consume it. Refunds are available at the location of purchase. Consumers with questions may contact 855-455-0098 Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm PT.

Taylor Farms Also Linked to Ongoing Cyclospora Outbreak.

The recall comes as Taylor Farms is involved in an ongoing multistate Cyclospora outbreak investigation linked to recalled Taylor Farms de Mexico iceberg lettuce.

That outbreak has grown to 6,358 laboratory-confirmed illnesses across 15 states, with 278 hospitalizations and two deaths, according to FDA. The true number of sick people in the multistate outbreak is likely higher than the number reported, said FDA, with Michigan alone reporting 12,485 cases in the state.

Taylor Farms de Mexico recalled iceberg lettuce in July after federal and state investigators linked illnesses to lettuce served at Taco Bell restaurants and to recalled Taylor Farms de Mexico products.

The Cyclospora and Salmonella outbreaks are separate investigations involving different products and suppliers.
