SafetyChain Expands CAPA Management with New Reporting and Supplier Collaboration Capabilities

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. — SafetyChain, a plant management platform for food and beverage manufacturers, announced a new set of capabilities designed to help manufacturers manage corrective actions more effectively from initial investigation through final resolution.

The release marks the general availability of both SafetyChain's Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) Management and Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) offerings, alongside new reporting, collaboration and workflow enhancements that aim to improve visibility, and traceability across quality operations, SafetyChain said.

The new CAPA Dashboard gives manufacturers a dedicated reporting experience for monitoring corrective actions throughout their lifecycle, the company reported. Quality teams have a more actionable view of CAPA priorities, overall health, workflow progress and outstanding tasks, while flexible filtering makes it easier to focus on the records and time periods most relevant to day-to-day operations, according to SafetyChain. 

The release also extends corrective action visibility throughout the platform by surfacing Linked CAPAs directly within SafetyChain's standard Record View. Users reviewing production, quality or compliance records can immediately see whether corrective actions are associated with a record and, where appropriate, navigate directly to the corresponding CAPA to see the full history of an issue in one place, said SafetyChain. 

The latest release introduces new capabilities that make interactions between internal and external teams more efficient while maintaining appropriate security and oversight, SafetyChain reported. CAPA Secure Profiles allow manufacturers to share corrective action information with external stakeholders through a CAPA Viewer viewing experience without providing full access to the SafetyChain platform. Manufacturers can control which information is visible. Auditors and other approved parties get a secure, self-service way to review completed corrective actions and supporting evidence, the company said. 

The release also marks the general availability of Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR). New workflow enhancements automatically notify suppliers when corrective action tasks are assigned, so issues reach people faster, SafetyChain said. More flexible resource selection lets manufacturers create supplier corrective actions that reflect how quality issues occur in practice, whether they involve a single product, multiple products or broader supplier processes, according to the company. 

Lastly, the latest release introduces more granular task assignment within CAPA Management by letting manufacturers assign resources when corrective actions are initiated, the company reported. SafetyChain also said resources are automatically carried through to the appropriate tasks so ownership stays clear throughout the investigation and reporting shows who is responsible for each stage of the corrective action process.
