Griffin Greenhouse Supplies, a third-generation, family-owned horticultural distributor and live goods broker, announced in an Oct. 26 press release that it has completed the acquisition of assets associated with BFG Supply and assumed immediate operational control of the five facilities in Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo, Michigan; St. Paul, Minnesota; Denver, Colorado; and Fife, Washington.

The transaction expands Griffin’s distribution footprint and enhances its ability to provide products and services to wholesale growers, retailers and more customers across key horticultural markets. Included in the transaction, Griffin has acquired inventory, assets, receivables, intellectual property and the five operating locations.

The five facilities will now become part of Griffin’s existing nationwide distribution network. Over the past three months, Griffin said it has developed detailed integration plans, evaluated operational scenarios and prepared for the transition.

With the transaction now complete, Griffin said it is moving into the execution phase, putting those plans into action and working through the integration of all locations, including systems, data and operating procedures.

Griffin is targeting Nov. 9, 2026, for full cutover, with the goal of bringing the acquired facilities onto Griffin’s integrated operating platform and processes.

As part of the integration, Griffin plans to retain the teams currently operating the facilities.

“Our focus now is on integrating these facilities effectively and connecting them with Griffin’s existing network, products and service capabilities,” said Andrew Barry, a managing director at Griffin Greenhouse Supplies. “We have developed a clear roadmap for bringing our systems, data and procedures together, and we are confident in our ability to execute that plan. Our target is to complete the full cutover by Nov. 9, and we are focused on managing the transition carefully while maintaining continuity for our customers. We value the people who know these facilities and their customers best. Their firsthand knowledge will be instrumental as we bring these operations and team members into the Griffin family.”

As with any integration of this size, Griffin said it recognizes there will be complexities to work through as the teams bring the facilities and operations together. With plans in place, Griffin’s focus is on executing effectively and making the necessary investments to fully integrate the facilities and position them to serve customers heading into the 2027 season.

The transaction builds on Griffin’s nearly 80 years of serving the horticultural industry. Since 1947, Griffin has grown from a one-man operation serving local growers into a multi-location distributor serving professional growers, retailers, controlled environment agriculture and specialty markets nationwide.

“We’re excited about what these facilities and teams add to Griffin and the opportunities ahead,” Barry added.

BFG Supply declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy in August and scheduled an auction to sell substantially all of its assets in October. Seventeen entities under the BFG brand were named in the filing.

BFG served as one of the largest independent wholesale horticulture suppliers, with 15 locations and more than 1.5 million square feet of warehouse space. Before its Chapter 11 filing, the company employed 461 workers in the U.S. and Canada.
