Marion Ag Service celebrates 50th anniversary in 2026

Oregon-based agricultural retailer Marion Ag Service is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2026.

In 1967, Robert Hockett, who as a child dreamed of becoming a farmer, branched out from full-time farming and became a liquid fertilizer distributor in the Willamette Valley. By 1976, Hockett partnered with local farmers Ersel Christopherson, Phil Wolf, Walt Wilmes and Ray Davidson to form Marion Ag Service, a lime distributor.

Hockett eventually transitioned into full ownership of the company.

“While the scale of the business has expanded significantly, the foundation of the operation remains unchanged,” the company said in a news release. “Robert Hockett still values the wisdom of his peers, famously hosting 'coffee hour' at the office each morning to stay connected to the needs of local growers.”

“Reaching 50 years is something we’re incredibly proud of,” added John Hockett, CFO of Marion Ag Service. “This anniversary is really about the partners and employees who have made Marion Ag Service what it is today.”

Marion Ag Service is planning a year-long celebration, including posting throwback pictures on social media, hosting employee gatherings and honoring customers and community members.
