Dianthus Scent First Candy Floss
Scent First Candy Floss, available from Plant Haven, features a delightfully spicy fragrance, compact free-flowering habit, silver-blue foliage and lengthy blooming periods. It is ideal for larger pots and containers. Double flowers are 1 to 1½ inches in diameter that are held above the foliage. Flowers are sugar-pink with a subtle rose-pink eye. It has a compact mounding habit of 11 inches by 11 inches. Candy Floss prefers full sun and well-drained soil. It is hardy in USDA Hardiness Zone 5.

Superstar spirea
First Editions Superstar spirea from Bailey Nurseries steals the show with its more compact form and spectacular three-season appeal. Superstar is a naturally dwarf spiraea that requires minimal pruning. Its new leaves start out scarlet red, becoming a dark green, then changing to a brilliant bronze color in the fall. Leonotis menthifolia ‘Savannah Sunset’
‘Savannah Sunset’ from Skagit Gardens has furry, orange flowers that resemble a lion’s tail held aloft on tall stems. With age, new growth appears from each blossom center, creating a tiered effect. Light green foliage is aromatic. ‘Savannah Sunset’ grows 60-72 inches high, with a 36-inch spread. It is hardy to 10°F and is easy to grow in full sun with regular water.
