Name: Colocasia esculenta ‘Elena’
Description: Chartreuse foliage with a purple center and purple veins. Grows to 4 feet high.
Hardiness: USDA Hardiness Zones 7b-10.
In the landscape: Grow in sun to part shade and in medium to wet soil. Use in the ground or in containers. It can be submerged in a pond or water garden. ‘Elena’ spreads by above-ground rhizomes.
Companion plants: Combine ‘Elena’ with contrasting dark foliage such as dark-leaf cannas or dark-leaf Colocasia, as well as other tropicals such as ginger, banana, croton or palm.
