Name: Yucca filamentosa ‘Color Gaurd.’
Description: Sword-shaped, spine-tipped, leaves with green margins and striking creamy gold centers grow to 30 inches long and up to 4 inches wide. Long curly white threads appear along the leaf margins. Tall spikes with white flowers appear in summer. Its basal rosette grows up to 3 feet tall.
Attributes: Needs only occasional watering once established. It’s a fast-growing evergreen that tolerates wind, heat and humidity.
Hardiness: USDA Hardiness Zones 4-10.
Landscape use: Plant as an accent piece, use along a border or in containers. Grow in partial to full sun. It can be used for erosion control.
