TAMPA, Fla. — NaturZone Pest Control participated in Feeding Tampa Bay (FTB) as its pick for their 2024 Volunteer Day. The company had 52 employees bag nearly 9,000 pounds of produce for those in need, said Doug Longfellow, chairman of the board for NaturZone.
Longfellow said the company became an annual giving member four years ago and has reached the $25,000 level of donations this year.
“We originally adopted FTB during COVID because people were suffering and having food is about as basic as it gets,” he said. “They don’t just provide food to the needy, they also have multiple programs to address the underlying issue that cause food shortages.”
The company plans to create other volunteer opportunities for employees to be a part of from its experience volunteering at FTB, Longfellow said.
The organization works to break the cycle of food insecurity in the Tampa Bay area. FTB provides food assistance for 10 counties across West Central Florida.
