Monrovia to host interactive perennial and shrub showcase during Centennial Celebration Week

The perennial and shrub trials are a part of Monrovia's 100th anniversary celebrations.

Monrovia is expanding its 2026 Centennial Celebration Week event to include what it's calling the largest interactive perennial and shrub showcase in the West.

More than a dozen plant breeders will have their newest selections available to view in Monrovia’s trial gardens, headed by Monrovia trials manager Fela Lafi and supported by Monrovia new plants manager Georgia Clay.

Breeder representatives will also be on hand for the 5-day event, answering questions and presenting on new genetics. Represented in the perennial/shrub showcase gardens will be Bull Plant Genetics, Concept Plants, Danziger, Dawin Perennials, Green Fuse Botanicals, Green Trade, Intrinsic Perennial Gardens, Monrovia, PlantHaven, Plants Nouveau, Syngenta Flowers, Terra Nova Nurseries and Tesselaar Plants.

“The Breeder’s Showcase is a great opportunity for attendees to get a first look at more than 400 perennial and shrub varieties, many of which have not been seen in the market,” said Joey Wiseman, director of ThinkPlants, who is assisting with the showcase. “In addition to seeing the plants with inground testing, guests will also be able to meet with breeder representatives to ask questions and learn more about what’s next. Access like this — all in one location — is not to be missed.”

The Breeder’s Showcase is part of Monrovia’s Centennial Celebration Week Aug. 24 to 28, 2026, at the company’s headquarters in Dayton, Oregon. An expanded version of Monrovia’s annual expo, this year’s event is a celebration of Monrovia's 100-year anniversary.

The event includes nursery tours, new plant presentations, marketing clinics and retailer workshops. The celebration will also feature a 100th anniversary party featuring special guests, dinner and entertainment.

“As we celebrate 100 years of Monrovia, we are excited to welcome our partners and customers to the Oregon nursery,” said Jonathan Pedersen, Monrovia president and CEO. “This year, we’re celebrating more than just the legacy of selecting and growing the highest-quality plants. We’re honoring all those that made it possible and focusing on an exciting future for our industry.”
