 Name: Pinus bungeana. Common name: Lacebark pine. Hardiness: USDA Hardiness Zone 4-9. Habit: This multi-trunked, evergreen tree is pyramidal during its early stages and develops an open broad form with age. It grows about 30 feet tall and wide. Best trait: Exfoliating bark of green, brown, cream and rust. But the beautiful bark characteristics can take up to 10 years to become prevalent. In the landscape: Use as a specimen tree. Plant where the bark can be readily observed. It is drought tolerant once established. Cultivars: ‘Temple Gem,’ ‘Compacta,’ ‘Silver Ghost.’ |
